Almut: What’s the hurry?
Tale
A would-be chef and a recent divorcee find their lives forever changed when a chance encounter brings them together in a decade-long, deeply moving romance. When Florence Pugh couldn’t make it to the film’s premiere due to other filming commitments, Andrew Garfield brought a life-size cutout of her to fill in for her absence. During a scene in a living room with candles and a fire, Almut closes Tobias’ notebook, but in the next shot it’s open.

Tobias: Because I’m worried that there’s a very clear and real possibility that I’m falling in love with you. Is It a Sin Written by Al Hazan Performed by Allie Hazan. In a time when the avalanche of “content”; constantly drives your attention, is there still a place to say "simple" a story as familiar as toast and a warm bowl of chicken soup?
That’s what I thought
before watching We Live in Time. Perhaps such a "space" has been lost forever? Without a doubt, We Live in Time is meticulously crafted with tangible love and care.
Clichés are clichés – no matter how heartbreakingly delivered
However, despite the dedicated performances of the two charismatic leads and attempts to make the film more “interesting”; its non-linear narrative ultimately failed to engage me. I’m sad to admit that I felt like I wasted my precious time watching it. We all need comfort food like a warm bowl of chicken soup sometimes, but when we go to the movies, we’re looking for "adventure" – something more lighthearted and artistic.
That’s the magic of cinema
At this point, it’s more like a streaming movie, albeit a not-so-good one.
