Delia Balmer, an agency nurse, met Sweeney, who confessed to killing his ex-girlfriend. He attacked her before escaping capture. Balmer rebuilt her life to confront Sweeney seven years later after he was arrested for another murder. Based on a true crime story. The bodies were dumped in canals in Rotterdam (not Amsterdam) and London. Excellent performances by all involved, which were uncomfortable to watch at times, but also captivating television. I often cringe at true-life dramas because they sugarcoat things for one side or the other. In this case, you felt like you gave a fair representation of both sides. I don’t remember the original story, so it felt quite fresh to me. We caught the program and we didn’t mean to, so that’s saying something. The fact that it seemed so overwhelming made it even more believable, and the pacing between key components of the story kept the tension high, I recommend this as quality TV.
